Historical Note |
Johnson served as Governor of Tennessee and in both houses of the Tennessee General Assembly and Congress. He became President with the assassination of Lincoln and was impeached in 1868. This wood engraving first appeared in the September 1, 1866 issue of Harper's Weekly. |
