Description |
Pvt. James M. King, Co. B, 3rd Tenn. (Mounted) Inf., USA, from Persia, Tenn. in Hawkins County enlisted for 100 days on June 30, 1864, at the age of 18. He mustered in on August 8, 1864 at Strawberry Plains, Tenn. and served until November 30, 1864. According to the family, he was disabled by frostbite and yellow jaundice. His pension was approved for $12 a month from May 2, 1906, after an Act of Congress June 27, 1890 made those with ninety days of service eligible for a pension. |
