This case holds images of Capt. William Howse Sikes, Co. E, 45th Tenn. Inf., CSA, (1834-1892) and his wife, Bettie Thompson Sikes (1844-1884). They were married after the Civil War on December 18, 1866. Capt. Sikes' service record indicates that he joined as a 1st Lt., was promoted to Capt., and later detached for service as Provost Marshall for Gen. Carter Stevenson's Division, Hardee's Corps by order of Gen.Braxton Bragg. |
