Letter written by Robert Laird Evans, Co. I, 53rd Tenn. Inf., Regt., CSA, to his wife, Delilah Angus Evans after his capture at Fort Donelson. Evans was taken prisoner and sent to Johnson's Island Prison (Ohio). He speaks of being treated well, "like gentlemen" by his Northern captors. According to the family, he may have been wounded at Battle of Franklin later in the war. |
