A photographic reprint (in green) of Josiah James Hughes, Co. E, 61st N. C. Inf. Regt., CSA, in uniform. There is a knife and a gun tucked inside the front of his belt. Hughes was from Green County, N. C. He fought at Fort Wagner on Morris Island, S. C., as well as the Battles of Kingston and the Goldsboro Bridge in North Carolina. At the end of the war, the 61st was assigned to the Army of Tennessee. |
