Photographic reprint of elderly Confederate veteran Pvt. Alfred Mathews Cleveland, Co. E, 1st Tenn. Cav. Regt., CSA, and his family. Seated from left are his daughter Polly, granddaughter Palastine, grandson Jerry, and second wife Catherine. Cleveland died in 1911 in Grainger County, Tenn. He enlisted in October 1861 and fought in the Battle of Mill Springs, Ky. He was wounded by a minie ball to the elbow and captured. He was moved to Chattanooga, Tenn., where he was immediately paroled. |
