Description |
Tintype of Thomas Stewart. Stewart was born in Quebec, Canada, and his family later moved to Indiana. Stewart enlisted in Co. A, 12th Indiana Infantry Regiment, USA. He was captured at the Battle of Atlanta. Stewart was a POW at Andersonville, Georgia until October 31, 1864, when he was sent to a Confederate prison at Millen, Georgia. He was sent to Florence, South Carolina, sometime before January 1865. Stewart died in Florence and has a military marker there. |
