Historical note |
Bush was a corporal in the 44th Tennessee Infantry, C.S.A. He was born April 17, 1843, in Davidson County, Tennessee. He enlisted December 30, 1861, in Nashville. His obituary states he professed religion at a soldier's meeting in New Market Heights, Virginia, in July 1864. Bush died in battle on September 29th, 1864, at Fort Harrison, Virginia. The 2500 attacking Federal soldiers captured the fort, and it was renamed Fort Burnham after the Federal general who was killed during the battle. |
