Historical note |
The Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) sprang from the United Confederate Veterans and is the oldest hereditary organization for male descendants of Confederate soldiers. The SCV was organized in Richmond, Va., in 1896. Membership is open to all male descendants of any veteran who served honorably in the Confederate armed forces. |
