Historical Note |
Sergeant Alvin Cullum York, recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Croix de Guerre for his heroic actions during World War I, died on September 2, 1964. He was buried in the Wolf River Cemetery near Pall Mall with full military honors. Governor Frank Goad Clement and General Matthew Ridgway (representing President Johnson) were in attendance. |
