Mothers' Sons, continued
Title |
Mothers' Sons, continued |
Description |
This is the last page of "Mothers' Sons" a poem about the sons who don't make it home after the war and the ones who do. Mitchener is aware of his own luck to have survived his air missions, but sympathetic to those mothers who will never see their sons again. He concludes the poem, "And here is Kriegeland. I think of those not here/And offer a silent prayer for somewhere/Those sons' mothers - like mine/Are waiting for their homecoming/But they will never come/Those mothers' sons." |
Historical note |
