Historical Note |
David Vann was a Cherokee chief who prior to his removal had been conciliatory to the Unites States, signing a land cession treaty in 1806. During and after removal he aligned himself with Chief John Ross, who fought removal. After removal,; he served as Treasurer of the Nation in the 1840s, and helped establish the Cherokee female seminary. |
