Historical Note
C . S . Garrigus served as one of the incorporators of the Tyree Springs Petroleum Company , first chartered by Tennessee's 34th General Assembly in 1865-66 . The company sought to explore , dig , bore , and mine for petroleum , coal , and minerals , as well as to refine , manufacture , and market those products .
