Historical note
The British first debuted the tank as an implement of warfare in WWI , but the design of the tank harkens back to the eighteenth century . The British tanks were initially thought of as landships , were affiliated with the Navy , and were codenamed "tank " in; 1915 due to their shell resemblance to water carriers . The French would also undertake tank production . The first French models were named Schneiders after the factory where they were produced .
