Description	The caption reads. "Airplane picture of one of the towns France asked indemnity for." Many of the buildings in the photograph appear to be destroyed completely or bombed out from battle.
Historical note	The Treaty of Versailles included a clause that forced Germany to admit to guilt for World War I. This led to demands for financial compensation for damage that Germany had caused to the Allied Powers, including France. The commission set the sum at $33,000,000,000 in 1921. This led to the destruction of Germany's financial security and sparked deep resentment in Germany. France was adamant about blaming Germany and later suffered the consequences during World War II.
